Curriculum Overview

Exploring the Journey of Learning

Al Ittihad Private Schools adopts a K – 12 American-based curriculum aligned with the international standards; namely the California Common Core State Standards (CA-CCSS) for Mathematics, English, Humanities, and Art, California Computer Science Standards and International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) for Computer Science, as well as the New Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for Science. For Arabic, Islamic Studies, Social Studies, and Moral Education, the curriculum is aligned with the standards of the Ministry of Education (for both Arab and Non-Arab students). The schools provide a coherent, guaranteed, and viable curriculum to ensure that all students have access to the same high-quality curriculum. Furthermore, our commitment extends beyond academic rigor. We place a strong emphasis on providing a diverse range of extracurricular activities that cater to the diverse interests of our students across all phases of the school. These activities not only serve to engage students beyond the classroom but also play a pivotal role in nurturing their inherent talents and skills. This holistic approach ensures that our students develop into confident learners, driven by a pursuit of excellence in all their endeavors.

Embracing a mastery-based learning methodology, we encourage students to engage in inquiry-based learning, which in turn promotes critical thinking and strengthens effective problem-solving skills. This methodology empowers students to become active participants in their own educational journey, fostering a deeper understanding of concepts and encouraging continuous growth.

From the foundational years in Kindergarten through to the culmination of Grade 12, Al Ittihad Private Schools wholeheartedly integrate the national identity, Emirati culture, ethical values, and the Arabic language into our educational fabric. These integral components are not only present within our curricula but also resonate throughout our programs and pedagogical practices. This approach ensures that our students not only excel academically but are also well-versed in their cultural heritage, ethically responsible, and proficient in both their native language and the broader global context.

In essence, Al Ittihad Private Schools' curriculum is meticulously designed to prepare students for success in an interconnected world. By encompassing academic excellence, a commitment to cultural values, and a nurturing of individual potential, we empower students to thrive academically, culturally, and personally. Our curriculum serves as a roadmap for fostering well-rounded individuals who possess the skills, values, and perspectives necessary to contribute positively to the global community.

Academic Policies

Exploring Our Academic Policies for a Bright Future

Al Ittihad Private Schools deliver a K – 12 American-based curriculum aligned with the international standards; namely the California Common Core State Standards (CA-CCSS) for Mathematics, English, Humanities, and Art, California Computer Science Standards and International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) for Computer Science, as well as the New Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for Science.

Admission registration and distribution

Al Ittihad Private Schools seek to actively recruit and retain students while committing to prepare them to be global thinkers in the rapidly changing world. The admission, registration, and placement of student’s policies take into account the schools’ obligations as defined in Federal Law No. (29) of 2006 on the Rights of People of Determination. This policy is to outline the requirements of the admission, registration, and placement of the students in Al Ittihad Schools and the procedures for admission.

Student retention and promotion

The policy establishes the process, guidelines, and consideration that guides the decision about the retention of promotion of students at Al Ittihad Schools from KG to Grade 12.

It is typically right for students to be promoted with others of the same age sequentially from year to year. It is the school’s responsibility to ensure that students remain on track.

•Kindergarten and Grades 01 – 05: All students in KG and Grades 01 – 05 will be promoted to the next grade, except in rare circumstances. The decision to retain a student in the same grade will be taken after considering the guidelines included in this policy.

•Grades 06 – 12: All students in Grades 06 to 12 will be promoted to the next grade except when they do not meet the promotion requirements as per the approved curriculum. A student cannot be retained in a certain grade more than two consecutive times as a maximum, and no more than two different grades during the entirety of his school education. The school will provide such students with the necessary learning support to enable them to succeed. The school follows the Ministry of Education graduation requirements for Grade 12 students as per the approved curricular requirements.

•Students with Special Education Needs: All students on an Individual Education Plan who meet their objectives progress to the next age-appropriate placement and grade-level sequence. Al Ittihad Schools do not retain or fail students with special needs in a grade level. If a student with special needs is not making the expected progress, the goals and objectives set forth in their personal Individual Education Plan will need to be adjusted accordingly.
